LVIV AIRPORT SEES 47% RISE IN PASSENGER FLOW

The Lviv International Danylo Halytsky Airport in January-November 2018 increased passenger flow by 47.1% year-over-year, to 1.468 million people, the airport has reported on its official Facebook page.
At the same time, the number of flights in January-November 2018 increased 28.3%, to 14,148 (11,000 a year ago).
According to the results of the airport in November 2018, 124,900 passengers (109,100 international and 15,800 domestic) took advantage of the air traffic, which is 57.1% more than in November 2017 (79,500).
The number of flights serviced in November reached 1,235 (1,035 international and 200 domestic), which is 31.4% more than in November last year (940).
As reported, the Lviv airport in January-October 2018 increased passenger traffic by 46.3%, to 1.343 million people.
Lviv International Danylo Halytsky Airport is located 6 km south from the city center.
The main international routes serviced by the airport are Warsaw, Istanbul, Munich, Vienna, Baku, Thessaloniki, Madrid, Rome, Tel Aviv, Bologna, Radom, Iraklion, Minsk, and Burgas.

LVIV AIRPORT HAS 46% RISE IN PASSENGER TRAFFIC

The Lviv international airport in January-October 2018 saw a 46.3% rise in passenger traffic, to 1.343 million people, the airport has reported on its official Facebook page.
According to the airport, in October 2018, 138,500 passengers took advantage of air transportation (119,900 international, and 18,600 domestic), which is 43.4% more than in October 2017 (96,600).
The number of flights made in October reached 1,355 (1,117 international, and 238 domestic), which is 28% more than in October last year (1,101).
The number of flights in January-October increased 28%, to 12,900 from 10,100.
The new terminal complex of the Lviv airport, built for Euro 2012, was put into operation on April 12, 2012. The new terminal with a total area of 39,000 square meters has nine boarding gates, 28 check-in desks, two self-registration kiosks, 18 passport control points and 12 points for aviation security.
The main international routes served by the airport are: Warsaw, Istanbul, Munich, Vienna, Baku, Thessaloniki, Madrid, Rome, Tel Aviv, Bologna, Radom, Iraklion, Minsk and Burgas.

LATVIA’S AIRBALTIC TO LAUNCH FLIGHT FROM LVIV TO RIGA

Latvia’s airBaltic will launch direct regular flights on the Riga-Lviv-Riga route from April 1, 2019.
Accordig to the booking system, airBaltic will operate flights between Riga and Lviv four times weekly: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Riga and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Satrudays and Sundays from Lviv.
The round trip ticket prices start from EUR 130.
airBaltic also flies to Kyiv and Odesa.
airBaltic connects the Baltic region with 70 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and the CIS. The state of Latvia owns 80.05% of the airline, and Aircraft Leasing 1 holds 20%.

LARGEST SOFTWARE DEVELOPER IN UKRAINE WILL OPEN SECOND OFFICE IN LVIV

GlobalLogic Ukraine, an IT company, the largest software developer in Ukraine, will open the second office in Lviv on October 12, 2018.
This was announced by the head of the company’s office in Lviv, GlobalLogic Vice President for Engineering Denys Balatsko on the sidelines of the Lviv IT Arena 2018 conference.
“This is a separate building, which was built according to our wishes and allocated completely to our company. Today, about 300 of our engineers have already moved there, but the official opening will take place on October 12,” he said.
According to Balatsko, departments for the development of medical software and embedded solutions will be located in this office.
In the opinion of the company, the question of availability of office premises equipped with serious IT infrastructure is acute in Lviv.
“Now we see a very high demand for office space and companies are often looking for a place where they could find room. There is not enough quality office space,” the expert said.
GlobalLogic Ukraine is the largest software developer in Ukraine. It has offices in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Mykolaiv.

WIZZ AIR TO LAUNCH FLIGHTS FROM LVIV TO VILNIUS, BRATISLAVA, FROM KHARKIV TO GDANSK, WROCLAW

Hungary’s low cost airline Wizz Air from October 2018 will service flights from Lviv to Vilnius and Bratislava, and from Kharkiv to Gdansk and Wroclaw. The press service of the airline reported that Ukrainian passenger can book tickets on the airline’s website at the prices starting from UAH 299 for a one-way ticket, taking into account all taxes and duties.
Flights from Lviv to Vilnius will be serviced from October 29 on Mondays and Fridays; from Lviv to Bratislava – from October 30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Flights from Kharkiv to Gdansk and Wroclaw will be serviced on Wednesdays and Sundays from October 28, 2018.
“We will now service regular flights from the Kharkiv international airport on four Polish routes, and we hope that direct flights to cities such as Wroclaw and Gdansk will open even more opportunities for our passengers: both in the tourism industry and in education, culture, entrepreneurship and others,” Commercial Director for Aviation Activities of the Kharkiv international airport (managed by New Systems AM, a member of the DCH group of businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky) Vladyslav Ilyin said.

TWELVE COMPANIES FROM GERMANY, POLAND, FRANCE, GREECE, AUSTRIA, ISRAEL AND OTHER COUNTRIES BID FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WASTE RECYCLING PLANT IN LVIV

Twelve companies from eleven countries have submitted bids for the construction of a waste recycling plant in Lviv, the press service of Lviv City Council said with reference to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy. “These companies have the most extensive experience in the construction of waste recycling facilities in Europe and around the world. The commission will study each company’s background and the next stage is to select one of the companies,” the press service quoted Sadovy as saying.
According to the report, the examination of documents for the compliance with the qualification requirements will take 30 days after which a list of the companies admitted to the next stage of the tender will be made public.
The following companies submitted bids for the tender: Eggersmann Anlagenbau GmbH (Germany), Control Process S.A. (Poland), СМЕС (China Machinery Engineering Corporation, PRC); Ceres Group SAS (France), ECONOVA (JSC ECONOVA, Poland), HELECTOR S. A (Greece), M-U-T (Austria), JV EFACEC-TAHAL (Israel), Atzwanger AG (Italy), Axis-Waste Treatment Technologies (the Netherlands), RIKO, industrijski, gradbeni inženiring in leasing, d.o.o. (Slovenia), and 3B Hungaria (Hungary).
According to the tender requirements, the construction of the waste recycling plant with the capacity of 240,000 tonnes of garbage per year should take 24 months. After the launch, the winner of the tender will service the facility and train local specialists for a year.
On June 1, 2018, Lviv City Council and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an agreement on the issue EUR 35 million for the construction of the waste recycling plant and the rehabilitation of the Hrybovychi solid household waste landfill.
