“In connection with the opening of the office, we also created a Ukrainian business department at JETRO headquarters, which decided to invite a business support team between Ukraine and Japan. We came with 10 major Japanese companies and startups equipped with advanced technology and a strong commitment to support Ukraine’s reconstruction,” Jetro head Norihiko Ishigura said at the office opening in Kiev on Thursday.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal also attended the ceremony.
Among the companies that have decided to interact with Ukrainian business are Itochu Corporation (represents investment products, but in Ukraine is interested in engineering projects, food/chemicals/metals trade and automotive business), Taichi holding Limited (develops air conditioning systems, sells construction equipment), Nippon express holding Inc (freight forwarder), Green (develops “clean” solutions for agribusiness), NTC International Co (consulting firm in the field of agriculture), Spec Company Limited (develops soil reinforcing agents), and NTC International Co (agricultural consulting firm).
According to him, JETRO will continue to bring Japanese business initiatives to Ukraine and create as many opportunities as possible for companies from both countries.
He also hopes that Ukraine and Japanese companies will take advantage of these opportunities and develop business relations.

One of the world leaders in the field of robotic systems for humanitarian demining, the Croatian company DOK-ING, has opened an office in Kyiv, which will help coordinate mine action efforts between Ukraine and Croatia, First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko said during the opening ceremony.
“We highly appreciate the support provided by Croatia to Ukraine. There are 45 Croatian DOK-ING demining machines currently operating in Ukraine, which have helped clear over a thousand hectares of Ukrainian land. I hope that the opening of the office in Kyiv will be the beginning of even closer cooperation, and our sappers will be able to learn in Ukraine how to operate and maintain these machines,” the press service of the Ministry of Economy quoted her as saying.
The Ministry of Economy noted that Ukraine is one of the key users of DOK-ING demining machines. The State Emergency Service (SES) uses DOK-ING equipment the most. Its fleet includes 10 MV-4 light demining vehicles and 14 MV-10 heavy demining vehicles. Croatian demining machines are also used by the State Special Transport Service (SSTS), humanitarian demining operators and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Of the 45 DOK-ING machines operating in Ukraine, 8 are manufactured at a Ukrainian plant that is a partner of the Croatian company.
“It is very important for us that some of the DOK-ING equipment is manufactured in Ukraine, as it means new jobs and additional budget revenues and support for the economy. In addition, manufacturing equipment in Ukraine reduces delivery time and facilitates logistics when repairs are needed. All of this ultimately accelerates the pace of demining and saves millions of lives,” Svyrydenko added.
The Ukrainian company A3TECH carries out large-scale assembly of DOK-ING demining machines with partial localization: part of the working body is already produced in Ukraine and by the end of the year the company is ready to increase the level of its localization to 100%. In 2024, the company produced eight localized MV-10 heavy demining machines, six of which have already been handed over to the SES.
DOK-ING produces both light and heavy robotic demining and explosive ordnance disposal machines. Due to their low profile and robust design, these vehicles are resistant to anti-personnel mines and unexploded ordnance detonations and can withstand an anti-tank mine explosion. DOK-ING vehicles are controlled by a remote control with a range of up to 1500 meters.
A representative office of the French Development Agency will open in Kyiv in July 2024, the French Embassy in Ukraine reported on Thursday.
“In addition to the two loans being implemented in support of Ukraine in 2022, we will now finance activities related to the sustainable development of Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ULIE) has sent an official letter to the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov and the leadership of the Administrative Buildings Department of the Economic and Financial Department of the Cabinet Secretariat, stating that it is impossible to fulfill their demand to vacate the office in downtown Kyiv on Khreshchatyk, which the union has occupied for 32 years, by March 10.
“We consider unacceptable any unilateral restrictive steps taken by representatives of the department that will block the activities of the ULIE and its partners – national associations of industrialists, entrepreneurs and employers, members of the Anti-Crisis Headquarters for Economic Sustainability under martial law, which are directly related to the implementation of the initiatives initiated by the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers, in particular, “Made in Ukraine,” the ULIE said on Monday.
The union told Interfax-Ukraine that the Cabinet of Ministers’ Secretariat had decided not to extend the UUIE’s location on Khreshchatyk, even on a lease basis. The ULIE claims that, nevertheless, the first floors of the building are occupied by commercial structures with which lease agreements have been concluded.
Among the arguments for the impossibility of fulfilling the demand of March 4 to vacate the occupied premises at 34 Khreshchatyk Street by March 10, the ULIE cites the March 12 meeting of the Anti-Crisis Headquarters for Economic Sustainability under Martial Law with the participation of, among others, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Verkhovna Rada and the National Security and Defense Council.
“Also in March of this year, the ULIE is planning a number of international events to attract expert assistance and investment resources from foreign partners to support the economic recovery of Ukraine,” the union adds.
In a letter signed by its chairman, former Prime Minister Anatoliy Kinakh, the ULIE emphasizes that it guarantees reimbursement to the balance sheet holder for the costs of maintaining the premises it uses and the utilities actually provided, as it has already informed government agencies.
It is noted that as of March 11, by order of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, an attempt has already been made to prevent USPP employees from getting to their workplaces, and there is no electricity and Internet connection in part of the office.
It is noted that several dozen business associations, including the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Employers, the Federation of Trade Unions, Ukrlegprom, the Union of Chemists, Ukrmashbud, the Construction Chamber, Ukrmetallurgprom, as well as the second president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, who once headed the union, and Viktor Yushchenko, who later replaced him as head of the country, have already spoken out in support of the USPP.
BAE Systems, one of the world’s largest suppliers of technological solutions in the field of defense and a manufacturer of weapons, has opened an office in Kyiv. This was announced by BAE Systems Ukraine CEO Christian Seear at the conference “Global Outlook: A Winning Vision on Wednesday.
He added that the company has set up a joint venture with a local partner, plans to repair military equipment, and later establish its own production base.
“We recently established a legal entity in Ukraine, BAE Systems Ukraine LLC, which is an operating trading company in Ukraine. We have an office in Kyiv. I’m proud to say that we are one of the first companies to do this,” said Christian Sayre.
According to him, BAE Systems is focused on moving its repair capabilities to Ukraine.
“We have a phased process in which we will do repairs on Ukrainian soil, and in the future we will move to local production. We have teamed up with a local partner to achieve this goal,” said the CEO of BAE Systems Ukraine.
He also noted that the company is “committed to creating an industrial base” in Ukraine.
BAE Systems is a global British company with subsidiaries in the United States and Sweden. The weapons supplied by the company are being used to destroy the enemy in Ukraine, including the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle, 155-mm FH77 BW L52 “Archer” multi-purpose self-propelled artillery system, M109 self-propelled howitzer, M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, 55-mm Excalibur long-range precision guided rocket and BONUS precision-guided munitions.
