KYIV AIRPORT REDUCES PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 70% IN 2020

Passenger traffic at Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport in January-September 2020 amounted to 600,600 passengers, which is 70.1% less than in the same period in 2019.
According to the airport’s website, the number of passengers served on international flights amounted to 589,500, on domestic flights some 11,100.
The number of flights in January-September 2020 amounted to 9,800 for arrivals and departures, which is 53.9% less than the same period in 2019, of which international flights amounted to 7,820, domestic to 1,980.
The most popular international destinations since the beginning of 2020 are Minsk (Belarus), Warsaw (Poland), Vienna (Austria), Berlin (Germany), London (the UK), Memmingen and Dortmund (Germany), and domestic are Zaporizhia, Dnipro and Odesa.
In September 2020, the airport served 51,100 passengers, which is 66.8% less than in September 2019. The number of passengers served on international flights is 49,100, on domestic flights some 2,000 passengers.
The number of flights in September 2020 amounted to 1,285 for arrival and departure, which is 19.7% less than in the same period in 2019, of which 945 international flights, and 340 domestic flights.

UKRAINE’S AIRPORTS REDUCE PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 63%

The airports of Ukraine in January-September 2020, according to recent data, served 6.857 million passengers, which is 62.9% less than in the same period in 2019.
According to the website of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, in international traffic, the passenger traffic of Ukrainian airports during this period decreased by 63.7%, to 6.063 million people.
According to the statistics of the service, in January-September of this year, Ukrainian airlines served almost 3.770 million people, which is 64.7% less than in the same period in 2019. Of these, 3.380 million people were transported in international traffic (a reduction of 65.4% in the same comparison).
At the same time, in the first nine months of 2020, Ukrainian airlines performed 33,500 commercial flights (a decrease by 58%), including 26,700 international ones (60.1% less).
As reported, the airports of Ukraine in 2019 served 24.337 million passengers, which is 18.5% more than in 2018.

ODESA AIRPORT CUTS PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 55%

Odesa International Airport in January-September 2020 reduced passenger traffic to 555,800 0 passengers, which is 55% less than the volume for the same period in 2019.
As reported on the airport’s Facebook page on Monday, in particular, 435,500 0 passengers were transported on international flights, which is 58% less than in the first nine months of 2019. Some 120.2 thousand people flied domestic flights, which is 49% less.
The number of flights performed in the first nine months of 2020 was 7,048, which is 46% less than the volume for the same period in 2019 (4,572 international flights (a decline of 51%), and 2,476 domestic flights (a fall of 30%).
At the same time, in September 2020, the passenger traffic of the airport amounted to 71,900 people, which is 60% less than in September 2019 (49,200 passengers on international flights (a fall of 66%), and 22,680 passengers on domestic flights (a decline of 25%).
The number of flights performed in September of this year was 1,035, which is 38% less than in September 2019 (588 international flights (a fall of 52%), and 447 domestic flights (1% down).
As reported, the Odesa international airport in 2019 serviced 1.694 million passengers, which is 17.1% more than in 2018.
Odessa International Airport LLC is a joint venture established in November 2011 by the Odesa City Council and the private investor Odesa Airport Development, which finances the construction of a new airport terminal and infrastructure worth $45 million.

PASSENGER TRAFFIC AT BORYSPIL AIRPORT IN 2020 WILL FALL TO 2009 LEVEL

Boryspil International Airport in January-September 2020 reduced passenger traffic to 4.058 million passengers, which is 65% less than in the same period in 2019.
According to the airport’s website, in September 2020 Boryspil airport served 554,485 passengers, which is 66% less than in the same period in 2019.
“The high season 2020 for the aviation industry is over. Due to the restrictions adopted by the Ukrainian government in August, not only did the September Hasidic program not take place, but at the same time the airport saw a 30% shortage of passenger traffic. The hub model has become unrealistic – we will be missing about 3 million transfer passengers The aviation industry has cut costs as much as possible to cope with the difficult times. Quarantine restrictions continue to be a stop factor for passengers. Analyzing the statistics for January-September 2020, we can more accurately predict the expected passenger traffic with which we will end the year. Passenger traffic at Boryspil airport in 2020 will fall to the level of 2009, which will lead to a multiple decrease in the income of Boryspil airport compared to 2019,” the press service of the airport said citing director general Pavlo Riabikin.
According to the published data, in the first nine months of 2019, the airport served 2.6 million transfer passengers, which is 22.4% of the total passenger traffic, and in the same period of 2020, some 418,000 passengers were served, which is 10.3% of the total passenger traffic.

UKRAINE AND TURKEY RESUME REGULAR PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION FROM JULY 1

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said during a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba that Turkey resumes regular passenger transportation with Ukraine from July 1, 2020, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has said.
“The foreign minister of Turkey informed [Kuleba] about the decision of the Turkish side to open its borders for foreign tourists and resume regular passenger transportation with Ukraine from July 1 this year. He also said that his country will create all necessary conditions for safe rest of Ukrainian citizens in summer,” it said on Monday.
The ministers also discussed the priority tasks of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey in the near future, determined the key bilateral high-level events that will be held as soon as the epidemiological situation improves.
Kuleba and Cavusoglu also agreed to hold the next meeting of the joint strategic planning group at the level of foreign ministers of Ukraine and Turkey in Antalya.
They also discussed cooperation within international organizations, including the Council of Europe.

UKRZALIZNYTSIA PLANS TO RESUME PASSENGER TRAFFIC

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia is technically ready for the resumption of passenger traffic until a predetermined date (from June 1, 2020), however, the launch date for passenger traffic on railway transport has not yet been changed.
Ukrzaliznytsia is technically ready to start passenger transporting, however, the government resolution regulates the date of June 1. The final decision will be made in the near future, based on the epidemic indicators of the regions and the decisions of the commissions on anthropogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations,” the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure told Interfax-Ukraine.
As the agency was informed by the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia, according to Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution No. 392 dated May 20, 2020, after the decision of the regional commissions on anthropogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations on easing anti-epidemic measures in regions, the company will appoint trains in these regions, and will start selling tickets.
The Infrastructure Ministry confirmed that the sale of train tickets can be started in the near future in those regions where there will be a positive decision on easing anti-epidemic measures.
The ministry said that they plan to follow the previously developed algorithm for launching railway transportation in several stages, namely, from June 1, running up to 50% of suburban electric trains during rush hours, launching 42 pairs of trains of Intercity and Night Express categories. At the second stage, it is planned to launch all suburban electric trains during daylight hours and all passenger trains except seasonal ones. At the third stage, it is proposed to open an international railway service, as well as seasonal trains.
