LARGEST GROWTH IN RETAIL TRADE TURNOVER IN 2018 IS OBSERVED IN LUHANSK, DONETSK, ZAKARPATTIA, POLTAVA REGIONS

Retail trade turnover in Ukraine in January-October 2018 in comparable prices increased by 5.4% compared with January-October 2017, the State Statistics Service has reported. Retail trade turnover in October 2018 rose by 2% compared with September of the current year, and by 5% from October 2017.
The largest growth in retail trade turnover for the ten months of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017 was observed in Luhansk (by 27%), Donetsk (by 12.9%), Zakarpattia (by 11.5%), and Poltava regions (11.4%).

GOODS TURNOVER BETWEEN U.S., UKRAINE 16% UP IN 2018

The goods turnover between Ukraine and the United States in January-August 2019 grew by 16% year-over-year, to $2.6 billion, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said.
“Bilateral trade in the eight months of 2018 increased by 16% and amounted to almost $2.6 billion. Exports to the United States grew by almost 32% and imports by 11%,” Kubiv said, opening the first official U.S. trade mission in Kyiv on Monday.
He also said that over three and a half years in Ukraine 80 factories were built with the attraction of foreign investment or are under construction. The leader in investing in the construction of factories is Germany, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
“The outright leader in attracting investments is Lviv region, where 18 factories with the attraction of foreign investors have been built or their construction is ending since 2015. The second place in attracting investments in the number of projects is occupied by Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions – six factories each,” Kubiv said.
The U.S. trade mission in Ukraine consists of four sections – IT, agriculture, infrastructure, and energy. The United States represents three companies in each of these areas.

BELARUS AND UKRAINE MAY INCREASE COMMODITY TURNOVER TO $5 BLN

Belarus and Ukraine may increase mutual commodity turnover to $5 billion in 2018, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko said. “Positive dynamics of trade and economic relations between our countries was observed in the past few years. We have managed to stop the fall that was in 2013 and resume growth,” Lyashenko said at a plenary session of the first forum of Belarusian and Ukrainian regions in Gomel on Friday.
The amount of bilateral trade reached $4.6 billion in 2017 and went up 20% against 2016, he said.
“We project commodity turnover at $5 billion this year [an 8.7% increase from 2017],” Lyashenko said.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko have decided to bring mutual commodity turnover to at least $8 billion in 2019.
Not only the governments of the two countries, but also the regions need to contribute to achieving this goal, Lyashenko said.

RETAIL TRADE TURNOVER IN UKRAINE 5.4% UP, LARGEST INCREASE IN LUHANSK, DONETSK, POLTAVA, ZAKARPATTIA, KYIV REGIONS

Retail trade turnover in Ukraine in January-August 2018 increased by 5.4% in comparable prices in comparison with January-August 2017, the State Statistics Service has said. According to its data, in August 2018 in comparison with July 2018 retail trade turnover rose by 5.7%, compared with August 2017 by 7.5%.
The largest increase in retail trade turnover for the eight months of 2018 compared to the same period in 2017 was observed in Luhansk (27.9%), Donetsk (13.3%), Poltava (10.8%), Zakarpattia (10.2%), and Kyiv regions (10%). As reported, retail trade turnover in Ukraine in 2017 increased by 8.8%, amounting to UAH 816.554 billion.
