Public representatives, together with students, lecturers and the administration of International European University, planted about 900 pine trees at Holosiivskyi National Natural Park.
The organizers called this event #хвойна_туса (pine meet-up), which was supported by the Silpo supermarket chain and initiated by SD Platform NGO.
Our journalists talked to Kateryna Davydkova, the coordinator of environmental matters at SD Platform NGO, about the idea and further plans.
“I try to extensively involve the university community in ecologically vital initiatives. The idea originated from the importance to enrich our country with trees. It’s painful to watch mass deforestation and wood sales. By the way, coniferous forests destroy bacteria in our air and clean our lungs, especially after COVID-19. The #хвойна_туса initiative took place in Vinnytsia and twice in Kyiv. Our International European University regularly joins eco-initiatives and supports the environmental consciousness of young people. In general, around 900 pine trees were planted at Holosiivskyi National Natural Park. Forest officers held a workshop on the proper technique of tree planting and maintenance. Our lungs were filled with useful coniferous air. We believe that our pine trees will also produce phytoncides in a year, which are quite beneficial to human health,” Kateryna said.
It is a great pleasure that International European University promotes an eco-friendly lifestyle, as forests are the lungs of our planet, which have suffered a lot this year and which recovery is crucial to each citizen. Taking the responsibility for the planet and its future, being conscious and caring about environmental problems: it’s about the IEU family.
Activists and students are going to plant more trees in the spring.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a climate conference in Glasgow, the press service of the head of state has reported.
“They noted the importance of intensifying political contacts at the highest level in order to deepen the comprehensive partnership between Ukraine and India. It was agreed to exchange visits in the near future, taking into account the pandemic situation,” the message says.
The parties noted the importance of mutual assistance in the fight against COVID-19. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Government of India for providing Ukraine in February 2021 with half a million doses of the Indian vaccine Covishield, with which vaccination was started in Ukraine. The parties also discussed the possibilities of potential co-production of vaccines.
Zelensky and Modi positively noted the significant growth of economic and investment cooperation between the countries, despite the pandemic, and agreed to intensify the existing mechanisms of bilateral interaction – in particular, to hold a regular meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Scientific, Technical, Industrial and Cultural Cooperation.
The parties also discussed certain aspects of practical cooperation in the military-technical sphere and aircraft construction.
Special attention was paid to issues of education and culture. The heightened interest of Indian students in obtaining education in Ukrainian institutions of higher education, including medical ones, was positively noted.

A COVID certificate can be generated on the 15th day after the diagnosis of COVID-19 is established within 105 days.
This is confirmed by changes in the procedure for the formation and use of a COVID certificate confirming vaccination against COVID-19, as well as a negative test result or a person’s recovery from this disease.
The adopted changes, in particular, provide that a COVID certificate can be generated no more than twice in one calendar year (if it is technically possible to record the generated COVID certificates).
As reported, in the last four days of October, Ukrainians generated 1 million COVID certificates in the Diia application, their total number has already reached 5 million and continues to grow.
Earlier, the government made it easier to obtain COVID-certificates in Diia: now this does not require an electronic signature, in particular, Diia.Signature, which required proof of identity using a Photo ID.
