SCATEC SOLAR JOINTLY WITH CHINA’S POWERCHINA STARTS BUILDING 148 MW SOLAR POWER PLANT IN UKRAINE

Norway’s Scatec Solar jointly with China’s POWERCHINA Guizhou Engineering Co. Ltd. has started implementing a project to build the Prohresivka solar power plant with a capacity of 148 MW (Prohresivka, Mykolaiv region). The press service of the company reported that the total cost of the project is EUR 124 million. POWERCHINA covers 65% of capital expenditure. The launch of the plant is scheduled for H1 2020.
As reported, Scatec Solar in 2018 established and acquired about half a dozen companies in Ukraine to implement its projects on the construction of solar power plants.

33 MW SOLAR POWER PLANT OF BUSINESSMAN KHMELNYTSKY TO BE CONNECTED TO SUBSTATION

Podilsky Energoconsulting LLC under a contract with PJSC Zaporizhiaoblenergo will reconstruct the Robocha substation to connect Scythia Solar 2 photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 33 MW belonged to UDP Renewables of businessman Vasyl Khmelnytsky.
The cost of the contract signed on June 3, 2019 is UAH 20.641 million, according to the ProZorro e-procurement platform.
According to a posting on the website of UDP Renewables, the start of the operation of Scythia Solar 2 photovoltaic power plant is scheduled for September 2019.
The plant is located on the territory of Kostiantynivka rural council of Melitopol district of Zaporizhia region.
As reported, UDP Renewables on March 1, 2019 launched Scythia Solar 1 photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 13 MW in Zaporizhia region. Investment in the project totaled $10.1 million.
KNESS (Podilsky Energoconsulting LLC is a member of the goup) acted as general contractor and Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) acted as a financial partner.
According to UDP Renewables, its plans include an increase in the 2 photovoltaic power plants portfolio to 175 MW in 2019.

METINVEST RANKS 42ND AMONG WORLD STEEL PRODUCERS

Metinvest, the largest Ukrainian mining and metallurgical holding, in 2018 ranked 42nd in the list of the world’s largest steel producers with a volume of 9.37 million tonnes compared to the 42nd place in 2017 with a volume of 9.59 million tonnes of steel, the 37th place in 2016 with 10.34 million tonnes of steel, the 40th place in 2015 with 9.65 million tonnes, and the 33th place in 2014 with 11.18 million tonnes.
According to the rating announced by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), ArcelorMittal remained the largest steel maker last year with a production volume of 96.42 million tonnes (97.03 million tonnes in 2017).
There are no Ukrainian companies, except for Metinvest, in the list of the 50 largest world steel producers in 2018, as well as in 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014. The Industrial Union of Donbas Corporation (ISD), which ranked 44th in 2013 with a production volume of 7.9 million tonnes, in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 dropped out of the leaderboard.

LVIV AIRPORT RAISES PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 50%

Passenger traffic at Lviv International Airport amounted to 197,700 people in May 2019, which is 49.4% more than in the same period of 2018, the airport said on Facebook.
The number of serviced flights last month increased by 32.1%, to 1,739. Some 1,506 passengers were transported on international flights (up by 36.7%), while 233,000 people (a growth of 8.9%) on domestic flights.
In January-May 2019, some 722,300 passengers travelled through the airport, which is 51.2% more than in the same period of 2018.
The number of flights in January-May reached 6,820, which is 28.9% more than in January-May last year.
As reported, in 2018 the airport increased passenger traffic by 48% compared with 2017, to 1.598 million people.
