Ukraine in January-October 2019 reduced import of coal and anthracite (foreign trade code 2701) by 0.6% (by 100,450 tonnes) compared to the same period in 2018, to 17.325 million tonnes. According to the State Fiscal Service, coal was imported for $2.365 billion, which is 3.9% less than in January-October 2018.
At the same time, coal worth $1.382 billion (the share in imports is 58.44%) was received from Russia, while the United States supplied coal for $727.602 million (30.77%), Kazakhstan for $106.989 million (4.52%), and other countries for $148.358 million (6.27%).
In addition, Ukraine for the first ten months of 2019 exported 13,318 tonnes of coal and anthracite worth $527,000, in particular to Moldova for $395,000, to Hungary for $100,000, and Poland for $32,000.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed to the founder of Alibaba Group Jack Ma to open an R&D center in Ukraine for expanding operations in Europe.
Zelensky expressed interest in cooperation during a meeting with Ma in Kyiv, the president’s press service reported last week.
“We have very ambitious goals. We want to completely reboot Ukraine so that people like you appear in the country,” Zelensky said during the meeting.
He told Ma about the State in a Smartphone project and stressed the importance of digital technology in transforming the country. He said that he was interested in joint educational projects in the field of information technology.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine has one of the best data analytics specialists in the world and can offer a really strong expertise to create a data analytics and artificial intelligence center.
The Verkhovna Rada intends to adopt at the second reading the draft law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2020 on November 14, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov has said.
Razumkov at a meeting of the conciliation council said that parliamentarians plan to adopt a draft law “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2020” this Thursday.
As reported, on September 15, the draft law (No. 2000) on the state budget of Ukraine for 2020 was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada and handed for consideration to the leadership of the parliament.
On October 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted for consideration the draft state budget for 2020, that is, voted for it at the first reading.
