American Wasatch Group will build 600 modular houses in Kyiv region

On Friday, June 30, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with US businessman and philanthropist, founder and CEO of real estate investment company Wasatch Group Dell Loy Hansen, the press service of the President said.

As it was noted during the meeting, Wasatch Group in partnership with the charity organization To Ukraine With Love plans to build 600 fully furnished modular houses for people whose homes were destroyed in the war in Ukraine, in the Kyiv region in 2023-2024.

Hansen also presented to Zelensky the Hansen Township apartment complex project, the main idea of which is to create a large community for elderly people, war veterans, widows, orphans and people with disabilities. The project will include medical and emotional care centers, as well as physical therapy, art therapy and other needed services.

“This campus will be able to replace several family-type orphanages that were destroyed during the war. We know that more than 100 of these institutions were destroyed, and the issue of their restoration is taken up by the First Lady of Ukraine Elena Zelenskaya,” Hansen said.

He also told the President about the initiative to build homes for elderly people left homeless in several regions of Ukraine. A dental clinic, hairdressing and manicure services, a hot meal center and a movie theater will be provided for the needs of their residents on a free-of-charge basis.

Zelensky thanked Hansen for this idea and such important concern for the elderly. The parties also discussed the possibility of Wasatch Group’s participation in the construction of new, modern rehabilitation centers for war veterans, which the state will support in every way possible.

“I know that you are implementing very important projects to support our people. We really appreciate that you are investing in life, in helping people,” Zelensky emphasized.

For his part, Hansen said he admired the leadership of the Ukrainian president and the entire Ukrainian people in defending the values of freedom and democracy, and expressed his conviction that Ukraine’s support in this struggle must remain unwavering.

Not single permit to join Black Sea grain initiative issued since June 26

Since June 26, the Joint Coordination Center (JCC) has not issued a single permit to join the Black Sea Grain Initiative to any new bulk carrier, UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Farhan Haq said on Friday.
“We note with concern that not a single new bulk carrier has been authorized to join the Black Sea Grain Initiative since June 26, despite 29 applications to the JCC,” Haq said at a briefing.
He emphasized that if new ships are not allowed to participate in the initiative, “millions of tons of food will be stuck in ports” until July 17, when the agreement expires.
According to Hack, only 13 ships are currently operating under the grain deal, either in Ukrainian ports or heading to or from Istanbul.
“The parties to the agreement should ensure that more bulk carriers pass through the maritime humanitarian corridor, which is a lifeline for global food security,” the Secretary-General’s representative said.
He also said that representatives of the UN and Russia may meet in the coming days to discuss the continuation of the Black Sea grain initiative.
On June 15, the JCC reported that more than 31.9 million tons of agricultural products had been exported from Ukraine under the grain initiative. This volume includes 625,169 tons of grain exported on dry cargo ships chartered by the UN World Food Program (WFP).
According to the JCC, the number of ship inspections has dropped significantly since May 25. From June 1 to 4, the JCC did not conduct any inspections due to another blockade by the Russian side.

“Dobrobut” will continue to work on certification according to JCI standards after war ends

Medical network “Dobrobut” intends to continue its work on certification of the network according to JCI standards after the war, said Sergei Orel, chief operating officer of the capital’s multi-profile hospital “Dobrobut” on Bazhana Avenue.
“We are going in that direction. We cannot certify only one clinic on Bazhana Avenue, the entire network should be certified. This requires a lot of work, primarily with the staff. We have begun this process, and I think we will return to this after the war,” he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
At the same time, Sergei Orel clarified that the nurse already complies with all the standards required by the JCI.
“For example, every time a surgeon enters the operating room, he must introduce himself to the staff, give the patient’s name and surname, voice the type of surgery to be performed now, what risks – such a standard minimizes the number of errors that may occur,” he said.
