Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv region) in March 2021 served 534,353 passengers, which is 10% more compared to March last year (486,490 passengers).
As noted in the airport’s statement on Wednesday, in March, the airport served 259,278 passengers on regular flights and 275,075 passengers on non-scheduled flights.
“For objectivity, a longer period should be considered: in the first quarter of 2021, Boryspil airport served 1.206 million passengers [of which 633,000 passengers used regular flights, and 573,000 used non-scheduled flights], and this is 50.5% less than the same period last year [in the first quarter of 2020, some 2.437 million passengers were served],” the airport said.
Passenger traffic on domestic flights in March increased by 18.6% (some 40,100 passengers) compared to March 2020.
International passenger traffic is also showing growth, the number of passengers increased by 9.2% (some 494,300 passengers).
The top five destinations of Boryspil airport in March 2021 were: Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Istanbul, Dubai and Minsk.
“It is worth noting that a year has passed since the coronavirus [COVID-19] pandemic rocked the aviation industry. The most difficult period for Boryspil airport was the period from March to May 2020 – regular flights were suspended, and the airport served only special flights. Passenger traffic was extremely insignificant and this explains the increase in passenger traffic in March this year,” the airport said.
The construction of a new airfield at the international airport in Dnipro has begun, the work is to be completed in 36 months, the head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Projects of Ukraine (Ukrinfraproekt), Kyrylo Khomiakov, said on Facebook.
He said the new terminal of the airport, in turn, will be built and put into operation in 18 months.
“The first phase of construction includes all earthworks, the construction of a new apron and taxiways to connect the new terminal to the old lane during the construction of the new lane. This means that passengers will be able to use the new terminal and aircraft will be able to use the new apron by the end of next year!” he wrote.
The old runway will be operational during construction.
As reported, the state enterprise Financing of Infrastructure Projects (Fininpro) signed an agreement with Altis-Construction LLC for the purchase of works on building a new airfield at Dnipro International Airport with an offer 30.6% lower than the expected cost for UAH 3.95 billion.
According to Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy, back in September 2020, preparatory work began at the facility to ensure the continuous operation of the airport during construction. At the same time, a private investor, NS Dnipro, began to build new passenger and VIP terminals.
It is planned to build a runway with a length of 3.2 km at Dnipro airport. The cost of the project, according to the state examination report, is UAH 6.23 billion.
For the current year, the government has allocated UAH 1.4 billion for the construction of the airfield.
Mix Line LLC (Chornomorsk, Odesa region), which organizes cargo transportation, can buy shares of Odesa Airport Development LLC (Kyiv), which will provide the buyer with over 25% of the voting shares on the company’s board.
According to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU), it provided Mix Line LLC with the appropriate permissions on February 4.

According to the press service of Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), with reference to its deputy head Oleksandr Hustelev, the existing snow-clearing equipment was checked, deicing materials were prepared.
“We have 36 units of snow removal equipment, which will be used to combat snow and icing. Anti-ice treatment is almost the most important component of aviation safety. To prevent ice formation on the fuselage, surface and tail of the aircraft, deicers are used – a technique for treating aircraft with liquid from ice, installations for heating the aircraft and attachments,” he said.
According to him, 70 tonnes of granular and 88 cubic meters of liquid anti-ice reagent were prepared to combat ground icing on all types of airfield pavements. The equipment of boiler houses, heating and power grids is completely ready. In addition, the lighting equipment was repaired and prepared for operation in winter.
The airport fleet has a runway friction meter, sand and liquid chemical applicators, snow and wind machines, as well as garbage trucks and tractors, bulldozers, graders, loaders.
Over the past few years, the airport has acquired five new units of snow removal machinery.
Passenger traffic at Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport in January-September 2020 amounted to 600,600 passengers, which is 70.1% less than in the same period in 2019.
According to the airport’s website, the number of passengers served on international flights amounted to 589,500, on domestic flights some 11,100.
The number of flights in January-September 2020 amounted to 9,800 for arrivals and departures, which is 53.9% less than the same period in 2019, of which international flights amounted to 7,820, domestic to 1,980.
The most popular international destinations since the beginning of 2020 are Minsk (Belarus), Warsaw (Poland), Vienna (Austria), Berlin (Germany), London (the UK), Memmingen and Dortmund (Germany), and domestic are Zaporizhia, Dnipro and Odesa.
In September 2020, the airport served 51,100 passengers, which is 66.8% less than in September 2019. The number of passengers served on international flights is 49,100, on domestic flights some 2,000 passengers.
The number of flights in September 2020 amounted to 1,285 for arrival and departure, which is 19.7% less than in the same period in 2019, of which 945 international flights, and 340 domestic flights.
The airports of Ukraine in January-September 2020, according to recent data, served 6.857 million passengers, which is 62.9% less than in the same period in 2019.
According to the website of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, in international traffic, the passenger traffic of Ukrainian airports during this period decreased by 63.7%, to 6.063 million people.
According to the statistics of the service, in January-September of this year, Ukrainian airlines served almost 3.770 million people, which is 64.7% less than in the same period in 2019. Of these, 3.380 million people were transported in international traffic (a reduction of 65.4% in the same comparison).
At the same time, in the first nine months of 2020, Ukrainian airlines performed 33,500 commercial flights (a decrease by 58%), including 26,700 international ones (60.1% less).
As reported, the airports of Ukraine in 2019 served 24.337 million passengers, which is 18.5% more than in 2018.
