The Kyiv analytical center Experts Club hosted another event to promote Ukrainian wine and the development of the Ukrainian wine industry, as well as to analyze the products of the best domestic wine producers. The event was held with the participation and support of the Ukrsadvinprom association.
The event was organized by the Agricultural Department of Kyiv Regional State Administration, the Department of Tourism of Kyiv Regional State Administration, Ukrsadvinprom, the Experts Club, NGO Ukrainian Association of Winemakers and Sommeliers, NGO Association of Cavistes of Ukraine.
The event was held to promote Ukrainian winemakers. Among the winemakers the event was attended by Hryhoriy Kulinichenko Winery, Wine Idea winery, Biologist Craft Winery, Cassia family winery, Trypilske Nouveau winery, Willa Lamash winery, Narovylo winery.
Among the guests and tasters of Ukrainian wines were Volodymyr Pechko (the head of Ukrsadvinprom), Maksim Urakin (the founder of the Experts Club), Natalia Blahopoluchna (the head of the Ukrainian Association of Winemakers and Sommeliers), Olena Pavlenko (the director of SOPHIENWALD Ukraine) , Mykola Blahopoluchny (the director of the Ukrainian Association of Winemakers and Sommeliers), Andriy Kravchenko (a representative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine), Andriy Ponomarenko (a representative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine), Kostiantyn Dovhal (the head of the agro-industrial department of Kyiv Regional State Administration), Hanna Kutsenko (the head of the tourism department of Kyiv Regional State Administration), Olha Zhurova (the deputy chief of staff of Kyiv Regional State Administration), Maryna Radova (the head of the tourism and promotion department of Kyiv City State Administration), Petro Levchuk (the deputy head of the economic development department, the head for entrepreneurship and investment in the economics and digitization department of Kyiv Regional State Administration) and others.
Within the framework of the meeting, an organoleptic analysis of the quality of samples of the leading Ukrainian wine producers was conducted.
Tasting wine from Kyiv region was held in glasses of the Austrian company SOPHIENWALD.

The public organization Association of Gardeners, Grape Growers and Winemakers of Ukraine (Ukrsadvinprom) and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food have begun work on the creation of a viticultural register to record the production and consumption of grapes and wine in Ukraine, which will allow to cancel the licensing of wine and remove it from the list of excisable goods.
This was announced by Head of the public organization Volodymyr Pechko at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.
Ukrsadvinprom and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy begin to work on the creation of a viticultural register, which is necessary for the correct regulation of the market, namely, on the creation of three types of obligatory declarations: how many grapes you produced, how much wine you made from these grapes, and how much wine you have left at the end of the year,” Pechko said.
According to him, the state with the help of these three declarations will be able to effectively analyze the production, sales volumes and carryover stocks of grapes and wine in the country, which in the future will allow it to abandon the need to license wine and abolish the excise tax from it.
He added that, according to Ukrainian law, wine is a food product that should not be subject to excise tax.
“I believe that this will lead to an increase in the number of wineries. We are working to ensure that such ‘chateau’ [wineries] are created in Ukraine. These do not have to be giant enterprises,” Pechko said.
In addition, Ukrsadvinprom intends in 2022 to join the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine), which controls 85% of the world wine market.
“We are planning to enter the international organization OIV. This is an organization for wine, which includes 47 states. It is 85% of the world wine market, which is created by the leading countries: China, France, Spain, the United States – and which everyone is striving to join. It is engaged in the harmonization of accepted standards for the production of wine products,” Pechko said.
According to him, this initiative is also supported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy. The head of the organization said that the issue of joining the OIV is only how much time is needed to complete the association procedure. He admitted that it will be possible to do this next year.

Producers and processors of grapes, as well as representatives of the wine industry will hold the international forum Odessa Wine Week in Odesa on May 25-29, the event will unite the efforts of the Ukrainian wine-making community aimed at developing the Ukrainian wine market, wine and gastronomic tourism, popularizing and promoting the Ukrainian Wine brand and the integration of Ukraine into the world wine community.
This was announced by the organizers of the event – head of the Ukrsadvinprom public organization Volodymyr Pechko, head of the Expo-Yug-Service projects Bella Khanameryan and head of the wine technology and sensory analysis department of the Odesa National Academy of Food Technologies Oksana Tkachenko at a press conference at Interfax- Ukraine.
According to Ukrsadvinprom head Pechko, his association organizes an annual forum, which was first held this year in Odesa, since this site allows to gather the leading experts of the wine industry, scientists, oenologists (experts in evaluating vineyards), winemakers, government officials, national and foreign wine associations, tourism industry, HoReCa and retail, sommeliers, journalists, wine traders and producers of related products and technologies to popularize Ukrainian wines.
“Last year, one could taste 305 samples from 65 wineries in Ukraine. That is, in one place you can taste Ukrainian wines: craft winemakers, medium-sized producers with vineyards of 40-60 hectares, and large producers from all over Ukraine,” Pechko said.
The organizer of the forum, Bella Khanameryan, specified that this year 30 companies have become partners of the event. In addition, 87 speakers and experts from 18 countries spoke at Odessa Wine Week 2021, profile reports and discussions were held on 40 topics, over 3,000 people attended the event.
According to her, in 2022, projects were announced at the forum, including talks about wine and Ukraine’s integration into the world wine community Wine Future Forum, as well as the Odessa Wine & Spirit Awards competition.
“In 2022 we will have a creative competition for the best label. We will have a sailing regatta, a special program “Women in Winemaking,” evening performances, musical and artistic performances, exhibitions, biennials, everything that can be shown in the culture of drinking, pay attention to wine as part of the cultural code of the country,” Khanameryan explained.
According to Oksana Tkachenko, Ukrainian industry representatives see recognition in other countries of the world among their strategic goals.
“We already see interest from our closest neighbors, we are waiting for delegations from such countries such as Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, who will not only come to show themselves, but we are preparing educational projects for them, within which they will visit wineries and participate in educational project in B2B and B2C formats,” she said.
Ihor Vishtak, the director of the agrarian development department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, who participated in the press conference, said that his department has already allocated UAH 450 million of compensation to support horticulture, viticulture and hop-growing in 2021, of which UAH 200 million for planting material, the construction of trellises for growing climbing plants and drip irrigation (of which – UAH 9 million for viticulture), and UAH 250 million – for the construction and reconstruction of facilities for these crops (including UAH 19 million – for the construction of facilities and the purchase of wine-making lines).

Within the framework of the YouTube project Experts Club, the Macroeconomic Review column has been launched on a monthly basis. In the December issue, the founder of the project, Ph.D. in Economics Maksim Urakin analyzed the main macroeconomic indicators of Ukraine; the video contains diagrams and illustrations dedicated to the current statistics of Ukraine.
Thus, according to the State Statistics Service, the population of Ukraine for incomplete 2021 decreased by more than a quarter of a million people.
In foreign trade, China confidently ranks first among the trading partners of Ukraine, while India was in the first position among the countries in terms of trade surplus.
In addition, up-to-date data were studied, statistics from the state employment center were presented and the ratio of unemployed to vacancies was derived. The industries with the highest unemployment rates as of November 1, 2021, as well as the indicators of the average monthly wage in the regions were analyzed.
Also, the analytical video presents the TOP-20 countries of Ukraine’s trading partners in terms of foreign trade turnover in January-September 2021.

The premiere of the first program devoted to summing up the results of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence in the economic and social spheres took place on the Experts Club Youtube channel.
In the pilot issue devoted to the demographic situation in our country, the founder of the Experts Club, PhD in Economics Maksim Urakin and the leading researcher at the Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, PhD in Economics Lidiya Tkachenko, analyzed the main trends in changes in the population of Ukraine over the past 30 years, studied the historical data and UN forecasts for the next century.
The guest of the program noted that Ukraine has one of the worst demographic indicators in the post-Soviet space. According to her, this is primarily due to a sharp decline in the birth rate in the second half of the 1990s, early 2000s.
“Since Soviet times, one of the biggest problems of increasing the birth rate has been mass abortions, which have actually become a tool for regulating the population. At the same time, the birth rate until 1990 remained relatively high – on average 2-3 children per family on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR,” the expert noted.
She also added that today the birth of a child in a Ukrainian family is a “heroic act” due to the difficult socio-economic situation, so a surge in the birth rate cannot be expected in the coming decades.
Tkachenko stressed that since the 1960s, there has been practically no positive dynamics in life expectancy in Ukraine. The average age of both men and women in our country is now about the same as it was 60 years ago, despite a significant global progress in the field of medicine and health care.
“This situation is typical for both the late USSR and the post-Soviet period. At the same time, the countries of both Western and Eastern Europe, even those that were part of the socialist camp, showed much more positive dynamics,” the scientist added.

The Afghan authorities till the last did not believe in the withdrawal of the U.S. army from the country and considered all movements of American troops over the past six months to be military maneuvers, Mohammad Farajallah, an expert on the Near and Middle East, the editor-in-chief of the Ukraine in Arabic online portal, told the Experts Club YouTube channel.
“For some unknown reason, the Afghan leadership decided to reshuffle personnel in the army and appointed a person who had been undergoing long-term treatment in the UAE as the Minister of Defense,” the expert added.
Farajallah believes that due to these factors, the Afghan armed forces were in a deplorable state by the beginning of the large-scale offensive by the Taliban. In addition, according to the expert, the Afghan army is used to fighting according to the American model, and was not ready for the lack of massive air support and satellite intelligence.
“At the end of April, the U.S. military ceased serving Afghan aircraft and transmitting intelligence. They announced that they were beginning to withdraw their troops. The Afghan authorities, in turn, did not prepare (for the Taliban’s offensive) and did not understand the importance of the situation. Also, this situation damages the reputation of the CIA, which in its forecasts gave the Taliban at least six months to seize power,” the orientalist emphasized.
Another wrong decision of the Afghan authorities, according to the expert, was the concentration of military units in large cities. This led to the formation of a kind of besieged garrisons without supply lines, which rather quickly surrendered to the Taliban one after another.
The expert said the main factor behind the quick victory for the Taliban was the low morale of the Afghan army. The few pockets of resistance were brutally suppressed by the Taliban, but most of the army simply laid down their arms.
“The Taliban have worked with the heads of clans who have a huge impact on the local population, including soldiers of the Afghan army. When a tribal elder tells a local soldier to drop his weapon and go home, he has no choice but to obey, as tribal leaders have much more authority than inexperienced army commanders,” he noted.
