Active Group and Experts Club have conducted a joint study on the attitudes of Ukrainians towards the countries of East Asia and the Middle East. The study was presented at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency in June 2024. The research was presented by Maksym Urakin and Oleksandr Poznyi. The results of the study are as follows:

Metinvest Group’s KAMETSTAL plant, which was set up at the facilities of Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMK, Kamenskoye, Dnipro Oblast), is overhauling two pipelines to improve the reliability of compressed air and autogenous oxygen supplies.
According to the company, the Oxygen Compressor Shop (OCS) is carrying out the first stage of scattered overhauls on two pipelines at once. This integrated approach will help improve the reliability of compressed air and autogenous oxygen supplies for sinter production.
The company explains that due to significant wear and tear, both pipelines need to be upgraded as a matter of priority to avoid disruptions in the transportation of the products produced by the Coke Plant, which are essential for a stable technological process in the sinter and blast furnace shops.
As part of the overhaul of the autogenous oxygen network, it is planned to replace 700 meters of 108 mm diameter pipeline, upgrade valves and maintenance platforms, and repair stairs to improve safety and working conditions for personnel.
More than 300 meters of 530 mm diameter pipeline is also planned to be replaced in the external compressed air network. Ladders and platforms will be brought in line with the company’s standards.
“These are the first overhauls on both pipelines since their commissioning. The main task we are solving with these repairs is to ensure reliable supply of products manufactured in our shop and required for stable technical processes in sintering and blast furnace production. Also, after the network upgrade, we expect to reduce losses during the transportation of compressed air and autogenous oxygen,” explained Andrey Pismenny, Head of the PSC.
“KAMETSTAL was established on the basis of Dnipro Coke and Chemical Plant (DKKhZ) and Centralized Steel Works of Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMK).

Fewer and fewer cases of domestic violence in Ukraine go to court
1,521 criminal proceedings under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Domestic Violence” were registered in the first 5 months of 2024, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office. The number of such cases has been steadily increasing, and the percentage of cases that go to trial has fallen sharply this year.
Since the beginning of the year, 1521 domestic violence proceedings have already been opened – 36% more than in the same period last year. Back then, 1121 proceedings were registered. For comparison, in 2021, 1343 such cases were opened during this time.
Currently, an average of 300 such cases are registered per month. For comparison, in 2021, about 200 were opened per month.
The number of cases that go to court has significantly decreased. While in 2022 and 2023, the number was about 83%, this year it is only 64%, the lowest figure in the last 5 years.
This year, more than 1,000 Ukrainians have been served with a suspicion of committing such a crime.

On June 20, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada ratified “the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention). The document proposes to criminalize and punish violence against women and men.
In May 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 8329, which prohibits the closure of domestic violence cases, increases the terms of liability, introduces administrative liability for sexual harassment, etc.

Canada has allocated CAD15 million ($10.94 million) for the completion of the second stage of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide, the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine reports.
“I want to confirm that the funds – CAD15 million – have been allocated. They are ready for this project, this initiative to continue the construction of the second phase of the Holodomor Museum. And we are now doing all our internal procedures to make sure that everything happens,” said Stephen Weaver, head of the International Development Section of the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine, following a meeting with acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev.
In turn, the Ukrainian official thanked Canada for its assistance and emphasized that the activities of the National Museum of the Holodomor Genocide should inspire Ukrainians and the international community to promote freedom and dignity, prevent genocide and prioritize human rights.

The State Property Fund (SPF) has put up the Bdzhylnya Distillery in Vinnytsia region for privatization at an online auction with a starting price of UAH 68.5 million, said Vitaliy Koval, head of the SPF.
“The modernization of the production will help ensure economic efficiency for the new owner, as Vinnytsia region is a leader in the production and export of agricultural products. This gives the company logistical advantages and access to resources,” he explained on Facebook.
According to the report, the state-owned enterprise specializes in the production of alcohol and other chemical products of organic origin, but has not been carrying out financial and economic activities since June 2022.
The unified property complex of the Bdzhilnyansky distillery consists of 99 real estate objects with a total area of 11570.6 square meters, 23 units of transport and special equipment, as well as 727 units of equipment.
The online auction will take place on June 24 in the Prozorro.Sale electronic trading system.
Koval reminded that in 2024, the agency successfully held 4 online auctions for the sale of alcohol industry facilities. Their final value amounted to UAH 126.8 million, which is on average 2.1 times higher than the starting price.
“As a result, the enterprises get new owners and investments for modernization, and the budget receives funds from fair and competitive sales. We continue to work on the denationalization of the alcohol industry through privatization to unlock its potential,” summarized the SPFU chairman.
According to the SPF, distilleries are among the most popular assets for small-scale privatization. The agency planned to fully complete the privatization of alcohol industry enterprises in 2023, for which it was going to hold online auctions for the sale of 26 distilleries across the country. However, some of them did not take place.
