LVIV INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SEES 28.6% RISE IN PASSENGER FLOW

The passenger flow of the Lviv International Airport totaled 163,400 people in January 2020, which is 28.6% more than in January 2019.
The airport’s press service said on its Facebook, in particular, 143,400 people were transported on international flights, and 20,000 people on domestic flights.
The number of flights was 1,347 (1,134 international and 213 domestic), which is 6% more than in January 2019.
As reported, the passenger flow of the Lviv International Airport in 2019 amounted to 2.217 million people, which is 38.8% more than in 2018.

ONUR GROUP TO BUILD MULTIFUNCTIONAL EXHIBITION CENTER IN LVIV

Turkey’s Onur group, engaged in construction and repair of roads and buildings, plans to build a multifunctional exhibition center with a hotel and business centers in Lviv. “We plan to build a complex in Ukraine with a hotel, a multifunctional exhibition center for 3,000 people, and several IT business centers. We want to place all this in one place on a good location in Lviv,” the head of the representative office and general coordinator of Onur Group, Emre Karaahmetoglu, said in an interview with Newsweek in the framework of the Ukrainian promo for the World Economic Forum.
He also mentioned the company’s plans to invest in the Ukrainian tourism sector.
According to the decree of Lviv City Council of September 19, 2019, a joint venture was established between the Agency for Resources of Lviv City Council and Onur Construction International LLC – Synergy Alliance LLC, and a land plot of 4.82 hectares worth UAH 105.9 million in Shyretska-Riashevska Street was transferred to it.
Zaxid.net reported, with reference to Onur’s investment analyst Olena Chepurnova, construction work will begin in 2020. Construction will take about two years, the cost of the project is $70 million.
Onur Construction International LLC (Kyiv) was founded in 2004.

KOVALSKA GROUP COMPLETES PURCHASE OF PRODUCTION IN LVIV

The Kovalska industrial and construction group has finalized a deal to acquire Rozvadov Construction Materials LLC (Rozvadov, Lviv region), which owns a production facility located on around 140 ha, for UAH 63 million, the press service of the group reported on Tuesday.
The facility includes sand and limestone quarries, shaft furnaces for calcining limestone and a sand-lime bricks plant.
Sand deposits in the sand pit are estimated at almost 10 million cubic meters, the planned production volumes are 400,000-500,000 tonnes per year. Sand will be used to make Siltek dry mortar.
In addition, Kovalska plans to build another Siltek plant in the next two years on the acquired site. In addition, sand mined at the site will be sold in Western Ukraine.
According to the group, the limestone deposit has deposits at the level of 6 million tonnes. “Annually, it is planned to extract 200,000 tonnes of limestone, which will be processed at our own facilities and sold at enterprises throughout the country,” the press service added.
At the same time, to improve the quality, the sand processing and limestone calcining lines will be modernized, modern equipment for its pollution-free processing will be installed.
The Kovalska industrial and construction group has been operating in the construction market of Ukraine since 1956. The company is a leading manufacturer of building materials, developer and builder of Ukraine. The group unites nine manufacturers of building materials, which are known in Ukraine under the brands Concrete by Kovalska, Avenu, Siltek, and Granite by Kovalska.

PASSENGER TRAFFIC AT LVIV INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INCREASES BY 38.8% IN 2019

Passenger traffic at Lviv International Airport in 2019 amounted to 2.217 million people, which is 38.8% more than in 2018, the company’s press service said on Facebook.
The number of flights in 2019 reached 18,963 (16,180 international and 2,783 domestic), which is 22.9% more than in 2018.
In December 2019, some 171,600 passengers used the airport services (151,400 on international flights, 20,200 on domestic flights), which is 32.4% more than in December 2018. At the same time, the number of flights last month increased by 10.9%, to 1,423 (1,178 international and 245 domestic).
As reported, Lviv Airport in 2018 increased passenger traffic by 48% compared to 2017, to 1.598 million people.
Lviv International Airport is located 6 km south of the city center.

2.5 MLN TOURISTS VISIT LVIV IN 2019

Some 2.5 million tourists visited Lviv in 2019, which is 10% less than last year, the Tourism Department of Lviv City Council has reported. “Some 2.5 million tourists visited Lviv in 2019 and 37% of them were Ukrainian citizens,” reads the statement.
According to the Tourism Department, this figure is 10% lower than in 2018. However, the number of tourists from Poland who visited Lviv in 2019 increased by 2%, to 18.3%. Some 6.6% were tourists from Belarus, 6.2% – from Turkey, 5.4% – from Germany and 3% – from the UK.
Around 46% tourists traveled to Lviv by train, 30.8% – by airplane, 11.8% – by car and 11.6% – by bus.
“A tourist stayed in Lviv on the average for 3.8 days and spent around EUR 94 per day,” reads the statement.

BUTA AIRWAYS STARTS FLYING FROM BAKU TO LVIV

Lviv International Airport has started serving the Azerbaijani low cost carrier Buta Airways, which made its first direct flight to Baku from Lviv. The airport’s press service said on its Facebook page the company will fly to Lviv during the winter season on Mondays and Thursdays. The minimum one-way rate is EUR 29.
Some 51 passengers arrived on the first flight, 64 passengers departed. The flight was carried out on board an Embraer 190 aircraft.
“This direction is not new for the airport. For several years it has been operated by the largest Azerbaijani carrier Azal Airlines. But these flights were stopped for the winter season. This year the airline decided to change its policy and transferred the flight to its subsidiary low cost company Buta Airways,” the report says.
Currently, Lviv Airport also serves such low cost airlines as WizzAir, Ryanair, Pegasus, Ernest, and SkyUp.
As reported, Lviv airport in 2018 increased passenger traffic by 48% compared to 2017, to 1.598 million people.
