On June 29 and 30, Romania will temporarily restrict the movement of trucks weighing more than 7.5 metric tons on a number of roads due to a severe heat wave, according to Romania’s National Road Infrastructure Management Company (CNAIR).
The restrictions will be in effect on Monday and Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on sections of national roads, expressways, and highways in 35 counties across the country, including Suceava, where border crossing points with Ukraine are located.
As a result, temporary restrictions on freight traffic may be imposed at the Ukrainian-Romanian border through the “Krasnoilsk–Vicovu de Sus” and “Porubne–Siret” border crossing points. According to preliminary information, the restrictions will apply to trucks, including those traveling without cargo.
The Romanian side explains this decision by the need to protect the road surface from damage under conditions of extremely high temperatures. During intense heat, heavy vehicle traffic can deform the asphalt, especially during the daytime hours when temperatures are at their highest.
The duration of the ban may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and decisions by Romanian authorities. Carriers planning to cross the border through the Chernivtsi region are advised to factor in possible delays in advance and monitor announcements from border and road authorities.
In March 2026, 1,085 new trucks and specialty vehicles were added to Ukraine’s fleet, which is 6% more than in March 2025 and 23% more than in February of this year, according to a report by Ukravtoprom on its Telegram channel.
Renault remains the market leader with 179 units. Volkswagen took second place with 112 units, and Citroën took third with 93 units. Rounding out the top five were Fiat with 87 units and Opel with 78 units.
As reported, in March of last year, the top five were MAN, Renault, Iveco, Ford, and Peugeot.
According to Ukravtoprom, a total of 2,911 new vehicles were added to Ukraine’s fleet of trucks and special-purpose vehicles in January–March, which is nearly 3% more compared to the same period last year.
In 2025, registrations of new trucks and special-purpose vehicles decreased by 5% compared to 2024, to nearly 12,300 vehicles.
In February 2026, Ukraine’s fleet of new trucks and special-purpose vehicles was replenished with 880 new vehicles, which is 4% more than in February 2025, but 7% less than in January of this year, Ukravtoprom reported on its Telegram channel.
Renault remains the market leader with 10 units. Peugeot took second place with 106 units, and Opel took third place with 72 units. Citroen (63 units) and Toyota (61 units) rounded out the top five.
As reported, in February last year, the top five were Renault, Citroen, MAN, Iveco, and Ford.
According to Ukravtoprom, a total of 1,826 new vehicles were added to the Ukrainian fleet of trucks and special-purpose vehicles in January-February, which is almost the same as the result for the same period last year.

Imports of trucks to Ukraine in January 2026 decreased by 45% in monetary terms compared to the same month in 2025, to $41.1 million, according to statistics from the State Customs Service.
According to the published data, compared to December last year, imports of these vehicles fell by 2.5 times.
Most trucks last month were imported from France – $6.1 million (38.3% less than last year), but their share in total imports of these vehicles increased to 14.9% from 13.3%. Thailand was the second largest exporter with $4.7 million (11.4% share), followed by Lithuania with $4.6 million (11.26%).
In January last year, the top three truck suppliers were the United States, Germany, and France.
Imports of trucks from all other countries decreased by 10.3% to $25.7 million.
At the same time, according to statistics, Ukraine exported only $0.22 million worth of trucks in January, mainly to Turkey, and a year ago there were also insignificant export deliveries (worth $0.76 million), mainly to Romania.
As reported, in 2025, imports of trucks to Ukraine increased by 5.5% compared to 2024, to $999.5 million. with the largest imports coming from France ($169.2 million, up 42.8% from the previous year), Poland ($162.7 million, down 14.7%), and the United States ($109 million, up 2%).
FRANCE, freight vehicle, IMPORTS, LITHUANIA, THAILAND, TRUCK
The passage of trucks with cargo through the checkpoints on the Polish border “Medika” (in Ukraine, the checkpoint “Shegini”), “Khrebenne” (in Ukraine, “Rava-Ruska”) has been suspended, and at the ‘Korchova’ checkpoint (in Ukraine, “Krakovets”), it has been slowed down, the State Border Service reported on its Telegram channel on Sunday.
“According to information from the Polish side, the database used to process freight vehicles leaving Ukraine (entering the Republic of Poland) has been temporarily suspended at the Medyka and Hrebenne border crossing points. At the Korczowa checkpoint, the Polish customs service database is operating at a slower pace,” the border guards said in a statement.
Empty freight vehicles are being processed as usual. Other types of transport are undergoing border and customs procedures without any changes.
“According to preliminary information, the Polish customs database is expected to resume full operation by 10 p.m. (Ukrainian time) on January 18, 2026,” the State Border Service said in a statement.
Traffic restrictions for trucks and large vehicles have been introduced on state roads in the Vinnytsia region due to significant weather deterioration, according to the State Agency for Restoration Telegram.
“Restrictions are being imposed … on the following road sections: M-30 Stryi — Uman — Dnipro — Izvarine (via Vinnytsia, Kropyvnytskyi) km 441 — km 417 (from Nemyriv, Vinnytsia region to the border of Cherkasy region); R-33 Vinnytsia — Turbov — Haysyn — Balta — Velyka Mykhailivka — /M-16/ — km 121 — km 170 (from Haysyn to Obodivka village, Haysyn district, Vinnytsia region),” the information says.
The agency reminded that similar measures are in place in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Lviv regions, and this is extremely important to prevent traffic jams, accidents, and congestion at the borders of neighboring regions.
“The resumption of vehicle traffic will be announced separately,” the agency said.
