Germany from September 1 changes rules of stay for citizens of Ukraine

The Federal Council of Germany has published a decision to change the rules for the stay of Ukrainian citizens in the country from September 1, 2022.

According to the decision of the government, from September 1, for citizens of Ukraine, the registration of the time spent in the country begins. All days of stay will be taken into account, starting from February 24. Those Ukrainians who stay in Germany for more than 90 days will have to receive temporary protection status or leave the country for the next 90 days.

At the same time, Ukrainians who arrive in Germany after September 1, 2022 will also be able to legally stay in the country for 90 days without having to apply for registration of temporary protection status.

Registration for citizens of Ukraine will be open throughout the war.

Pope Francis considers visiting Ukraine

Pope Francis is considering visiting Ukraine to express his support, Ukrainian Ambassador to the Vatican Andriy Yurash said following the meeting on Saturday.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said the next ships with Ukrainian grain are loaded and ready to depart.

“Next ships with Ukrainian grain are loaded and ready to depart. If Russia holds to its commitments under the UN-brokered grain initiative, they will reach foreign customers and help tame food prices and avert hunger. Ukraine remains committed to combating global food insecurity,” Kuleba said on Twitter on Thursday night.

Flow to enter Ukraine through western border increased to 281 thousand people in week

The flow to enter Ukraine through its western border for the week from July 23 to July 29 amounted to about 281 thousand, while to exit – about 262 thousand, the State Border Service reports on Facebook.
Compared with the previous week, the number of people entering Ukraine slightly increased, while the number of those leaving it slightly decreased, as a result of which net inflow into the country increased to about 19,000 from about 5,000 a week ago, according to its data.
The number of passenger cars passing through the border remained at 119,000 a week, while the number of vehicles with humanitarian cargoes registered fell to 431 against 560 a week earlier.
Such data is confirmed by the Polish border service. According to her, from July 23 to 29, 162 thousand entered Poland from Ukraine (a week earlier – 163 thousand), while from Poland to Ukraine – 173 thousand (167 thousand).
In general, since the beginning of the war, 5.130 million arrived in Poland from Ukraine, while in the opposite direction – 3.218 million.
According to the State Border Service, over the past four weeks there has been a trend when on Sunday-Tuesday, noticeably more people enter Ukraine, and on Wednesday-Friday, a little more leaves.
As reported, since May 10, the flow to enter Ukraine through its western border has steadily exceeded the flow to exit for a month. Net inflow during this period amounted to 188 thousand. In the following weeks, there was no such unambiguous trend, and net inflow over this period decreased to 60 thousand.
According to UNHCR data, as of July 26, a total of 9.927 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the war (excluding entry flow), of which 4.944 million went to Poland, 1.857 million to Russia, 1.042 million to Hungary, and 890.2 thousand to Romania. ., Slovakia – 627.6 thousand, Moldova – 549.3 thousand, Belarus – 16.7 thousand.
At the same time, according to the UN, from February 28 to July 26, 3.996 million people entered Ukraine (excluding data from Hungary, the Russian Federation and Belarus).

Export of wheat from Ukraine in new season may be reduced by more than third – opinion

The export potential of Ukrainian wheat in the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) may be about 12 million tons, which is 36% lower than in the previous 2021/2022 MY (18.7 million tons) and by 28% less than the year before last 2020/2021 MY (16.6 million tons).

As reported on the APK-Inform agency website on Friday, the decline in wheat exports is due to a 39% decrease in the expected gross grain harvest in Ukraine in 2022/23 MY compared to the previous season – to 52.3 million tons from 86 million tons, as well as the limited capacity of the country’s export infrastructure.

According to him, Egypt and Indonesia have been the key importers of Ukrainian grain products for several seasons: at the end of 2021/2022 MY, their shares in total exports amounted to 16% and 14%, respectively (2.9 million tons and 2.5 million tons in natural expression). It is specified that in 2021/2022 MY, Egypt increased purchases of Ukrainian wheat in relation to the season 2020/2021 MY by 19%, and Indonesia – by 2%.

Turkey became the third largest importer of Ukrainian wheat in the past MY – its imports more than doubled compared to the previous season – from 794 thousand tons to 1.9 million tons, and its share in total exports increased from 5% to 10%.

As reported, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the July report predicts the harvest of Ukrainian wheat in the 2022/2023 marketing year (MY, July-June) at the level of 19.5 million tons, its export – 10 million tons, domestic consumption within the country – 10, 2 million tons. The corn harvest is estimated at 25 million tons, export – 9 million tons, domestic consumption – 10.7 million tons.

Germany to supply bridge-laying tanks to Ukraine

Germany will supply Ukraine with 16 Biber bridge-laying tanks, the German Ministry of Defense has reported.

“We continue to support! To further support the ground forces of Ukraine, Minister Lambrecht has decided to deliver a batch of 16 Biber armored bridge layers. They can be used to overcome water or other obstacles in battle,” the ministry said on Twitter on Friday.
