In July 2024, state-owned PrivatBank reduced its net profit by 2.6% compared to June to UAH 6.25 billion, and with this indicator topped the country’s five most profitable banks in July, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on its website.
According to the data, Privat is followed by state-owned Oschadbank, which earned UAH 2.18 billion in net profit in July, up from UAH 0.07 billion in June.
Universal Bank (mono) rounded out the top three, increasing its profit almost eightfold compared to June to UAH 0.84 billion.
It is followed by two banks with foreign capital: Credit Agricole and Raiffeisen Bank with UAH 0.62 billion (+28.3% compared to June) and UAH 0.56 billion (+78%) respectively.
The second five most profitable banks in July were led by Ukrsibbank, which increased its net profit by 10.1% to UAH 0.55 billion. It also included: City Bank – UAH 0.54 billion, Ukrgasbank – UAH 0.43 billion, FUIB – UAH 0.42 billion, and Ukreximbank – UAH 0.38 billion.
In July 2024, three other banks made a net profit of over UAH 100 million: OTP Bank – UAH 365.3 million, Pivdenny Bank – UAH 340.7 million, and Kredobank – UAH 193.5 million.
At the same time, the three most unprofitable banks in July were Sens Bank with a net loss of UAH 65.67 million, Alliance Bank – UAH 17.81 million, and Pravex Bank – UAH 13.34 million.
The list of the most profitable banks for the first seven months of this year is also headed by Privat with a large margin – UAH 37.16 billion, followed by Oschadbank with UAH 11.00 billion.
Next in a tighter group are Raif with UAH 4.87 billion, Ukrexim with UAH 4.74 billion, FUIB with UAH 4.24 billion, Credit Agricole with UAH 4.22 billion, Ukrsib with UAH 3.97 billion, and Ukrgas with UAH 3.73 billion.
Six other banks also earned a net profit of more than UAH 1 billion in the first seven months of this year: Mono – UAH 3.19 billion, OTP – UAH 3.00 billion, City – UAH 2.73 billion, Sense – UAH 2.21 billion, Pivdenny – UAH 1.61 billion, and Credo – UAH 1.16 billion.
A-Bank fell just short of this milestone with a profit of UAH 0.92 billion, while ProCredit Bank, which followed it, had a profit of UAH 0.60 billion.
As for unprofitable banks, in January-July, there were 8 out of 62 in Ukraine. Pravex Bank had the worst result at UAH 95.79 billion, followed by Industrialbank at UAH 39.00 billion.
First Investbank and Motor-Bank, which were taken over by the state from their sanctioned owners following a court decision, had a net loss of UAH 25.69 million and UAH 14.69 million, respectively, for the first 7 months of the year.
Overall, in January-July 2024, the net profit of banks increased to UAH 93.62 billion, including private banks – to UAH 13.39 billion. In July, it increased to UAH 14.58 billion from UAH 11.07 billion in June.
On the border with Poland, at the Ustyluh-Zosin checkpoint, the passage of persons and vehicles is temporarily suspended due to a malfunction of the database on the Polish side, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.
“At night, the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland reported a malfunction in the database. In this regard, registration and passage is not carried out,” the State Border Guard Service said in a statement on Telegram.
The State Border Guard Service informs that measures are currently being taken to eliminate the malfunction.
“We ask citizens and carriers, if possible, to choose other checkpoints to cross the border,” it concludes.
Kiev citizens are recommended to refrain from ventilating the premises and limit staying outdoors due to the high level of air pollution, the press service of the KSCA reported on Sunday morning.
“As of 08:00 on September 22, the level of air pollution in Kiev is high. Radiation background in the whole city is normal,” – stated in the message.
The probable cause of this may be fires in the ecosystem of the Kiev region, reports the Department of environmental protection and adaptation to climate change KSCA.

Security measures are being tightened in Uman starting Monday, September 23, according to the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Igor Taburets.
“As in previous years, there will be a special regime of entry and exit, movement of citizens,” Taburets wrote in his telegram channel.
In particular, vehicles will be banned from entering Uman from the M-30 highway via Derevianka and Horikhova streets, as well as from Rodnykivka village to Uman via Pavlova street.
In addition, traffic on Derevyanka Street, Internatsionalna Street (entrance from the M-05 highway), the intersection of Horodotska Street and Maksyma Zaliznyak Street (entrance from Horodotske village), Mykhailivska Street and Vokzalna Street (entrances from the M-30 highway), and Kyivska Street (entrance from Rodnykivka village) will be subject to enhanced control.
The control regime will also be tightened at the entrance from the M-05 Kyiv-Odesa highway to Uman, on Vyzvolyteliv Street for entry of Hasidim only.
In addition, the sale of alcoholic beverages, fireworks and pyrotechnics is prohibited in the pilgrimage neighborhood.
“I ask you to treat all events with understanding. This is a necessity. Because the safety of Uman residents and pilgrims is a constant priority during the upcoming Rosh Hashanah,” Taburets emphasized.
Rosh Hashanah is celebrated this year on October 2-4.
Zelenyi Park LLC (Izyaslav, Khmelnytskyi region), which produces corrugated paper (fluting) and containerboard, increased its production by 24.8% in January-August this year compared to the same period in 2023, to UAH 357.3 million.
According to statistics provided by Ukrpapir Association to Interfax-Ukraine, the company slightly accelerated the growth rate of this indicator over the first eight months of the year, up from 22.2% over the first seven months.
In January-August, production in physical terms increased by 10.8% to 20.25 thousand tons. At the same time, in August, the company increased production of fluting and test liners by 12.6% by August 2023 and by 52% by July this year – up to 3.43 thousand tons.
Green Park LLC was registered in 2011 and manufactures products from waste paper.
The factory is equipped with Finnish Valmet equipment, which allows it to produce fluting and testliner with a density of 70 to 200 g/sq m and a roll width of up to 2.8 m.
According to the Clarity Project, the owner of 100% of Zelenyi Park LLC is Cyprus-registered Carton Mill Limited, and the ultimate beneficiaries are Kyiv resident Volodymyr Shandra and co-owner of ATB Corporation Gennadiy Butkevych.
The company ended 2023 with a loss of UAH 78.2 million (56% higher than a year earlier) on a 6.8% drop in revenue to UAH 498.6 million, and in the first half of this year increased revenue by 58.4% to UAH 258 million in January-June 2023, but suffered a loss of more than UAH 47 million.
