Astarta Agro Holding, the largest sugar producer in Ukraine, paid UAH 1.84 billion in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels in January-October 2023, the company’s press service reported on Facebook.
According to the report, more than UAH 1.08 billion of this amount went to local budgets of territorial communities in Poltava, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions. The agricultural holding transferred over UAH 753 million to the state budget.
“During the full-scale war alone, Astarta transferred over UAH 3.46 billion to the budgets of all levels. We are increasing these volumes from year to year because we are convinced that our taxes support both the budget and the people of Ukraine. This is especially true now, when the lion’s share of budget expenditures is spent on improving the country’s defense capabilities. This is our conscious choice, and I urge all Ukrainian businesses, without exception, to make this decision and pay taxes in good faith under any circumstances,” said Astarta’s founder and CEO Viktor Ivanchyk.
According to the agricultural holding, Astarta, together with Ukrainian and international partners, also continues to implement social initiatives within the Common Help Ukraine humanitarian project. The estimated value of charitable contributions and humanitarian aid provided by the project already exceeds UAH 809 million, of which UAH 56 million was allocated to the development of regional entrepreneurship in the communities where the agricultural holding operates.
“Astarta is a vertically integrated agro-industrial holding company operating in eight regions of Ukraine. It includes six sugar factories, agricultural enterprises with a land bank of 220 thousand hectares and dairy farms with 22 thousand cattle, an oil extraction plant in Globyno (Poltava region), seven elevators and a biogas complex.
In the third quarter of 2023, the agricultural holding earned EUR1.24 million in net profit, down 27.7 times compared to the same period in 2022. Astarta’s revenue decreased by 14.4% to EUR104.75 million, gross profit by 2.7 times to EUR26.96 million, operating profit by 7.6 times to EUR6.79 million, and EBITDA by 42.7% to EUR97.25 million.
Due to significantly better performance in the first half of this year compared to the first half of last year, in the first nine months of 2023, net profit decreased by 9.8% to EUR 55.97 million, while revenue increased by 14.8% to EUR 392.00 million. The company’s gross profit increased by 3.0% to EUR 151.91 million, while operating profit decreased by 15.9% to EUR 79.91 million and EBITDA by 10.8% to EUR 116.63 million.
In January-October 2023, Naftogaz Group paid UAH 75.4 billion in taxes to the state and local budgets.
According to the Group’s press service, the state budget received UAH 69.8 billion, which is 11.5% of the payments controlled by the State Tax Service of Ukraine, and almost UAH 6 billion went to local budgets.
“Our work is not only about the country’s energy sustainability, it is also about economic sustainability. In October, our companies paid UAH 4.7 billion to the state budget. We are constantly working to increase our profits, which in turn affects the growth of contributions to the country’s budget,” commented Oleksiy Chernyshov, Chairman of the Group, as quoted in the release.
As reported, in 2022, Naftogaz Group transferred almost UAH 100 billion to the budgets, and in 2021 – UAH 116 billion.
In January-September this year, Metinvest Mining and Metallurgical Group, including its associates and joint ventures, paid almost UAH 11 billion in taxes and duties to the budgets of all levels in Ukraine.
According to the company’s press release on Thursday, despite Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Rinat Akhmetov’s Metinvest remains the backbone of the country’s economy.
Metinvest’s Ukrainian enterprises paid UAH 2.8 billion in income tax, UAH 2.4 billion in unified social tax and UAH 2.3 billion in personal income tax in January-September this year. At the same time, Metinvest increased its land payments by 4% year-on-year to UAH 893 million in the first nine months of the year, up to UAH 1.5 billion.
Subsoil use fees (UAH 1.5 billion) and environmental tax (UAH 449 million) became significant sources of revenues for the state and local budgets of Ukraine.
In the third quarter of 2023, the Group transferred UAH 4.6 billion to the Ukrainian budget, which is 15% more than in the same period last year.
In particular, in July-September, Metinvest’s enterprises increased their income tax payments by 28% compared to July-September 2022, to UAH 1.7 billion. Over the same period, unified social tax payments increased by 8% compared to the third quarter of 2022, to UAH 847 million. And the payment of personal income tax increased by 12% compared to July-September 2022 to UAH 818 million.
In addition, in the third quarter of 2023, the group’s companies paid UAH 618 million for subsoil use, up 2% year-on-year. At the same time, land payments for July-September this year increased by 9% to UAH 304 million compared to the same period in 2022, and environmental tax increased by 24% to UAH 146 million.
Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest, noted that at the beginning of the great war, Metinvest faced serious challenges, which the group continues to overcome.
“We had to rebuild our business, create new supply chains for exporting products and change our operating model. All these steps helped the company to survive and remain one of the largest taxpayers in Ukraine. We want to help Ukrainians, the country and the army, just as we have taken care of our employees and residents of the regions where we operate. That is why we continue to work for victory in all areas,” the top manager was quoted as saying.
As reported earlier, Metinvest, including its associates and joint ventures, paid more than UAH 2.5 billion in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels in Ukraine in January-March 2023, more than UAH 6.3 billion in the first half of 2023, and UAH 20.5 billion in 2022.
“Metinvest is a vertically integrated group of steel and mining companies. The Group’s enterprises are mainly located in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions.
The main shareholders of the holding are SCM Group (71.24%) and Smart Holding (23.76%), which jointly manage it.
Metinvest Holding LLC is the management company of Metinvest Group.
In the first half of 2023, the Dobrobut medical network paid almost UAH 160 million in taxes to the state budget.
According to its press release, in June of this year, 32 thousand adults received consultations at Dobrobut clinics, which is 30% more than a year earlier, and 12 thousand children – 70% more.
The medical network reminds that in the first half of the year it opened two new facilities: in January, its Dobrobut multidisciplinary hospital at 12A Bazhana Avenue, and in April, the Dobrobut medical center for adults and children at 1/2 Entuziastiv Street.
In addition, in April, a new dental clinic Dobrobut Dental Clinic was opened at 14-16 Mikhnovskoho Blvd.
The chain clarifies that in 2022, the three most sought-after doctors were a general practitioner, an obstetrician-gynecologist and a neurologist, and in 2023 – a general practitioner, an obstetrician-gynecologist and an otolaryngologist.
The press release also notes that Dobrobut continues to provide free medical care to Ukrainians affected by the war. With the support of Direct Relief and the Dobrobut Foundation, 469 people have received free inpatient and surgical treatment at the Dobrobut Medical and Diagnostic Center at 3 Simi Idzikovskikh Street since the beginning of the year. In six months, Dobrobut Foundation has raised over UAH 2.4 million for the treatment of Ukrainians.
Today, the network employs more than 2,700 people.
“Dobrobut is one of the largest private medical networks in Ukraine. The network includes 17 medical centers in Kyiv and Kyiv region, an emergency service, dentistry and pharmacies. The medical centers of the network provide services for children and adults in more than 75 medical areas. Every year, Dobrobut specialists perform more than 7000 surgeries. The network employs 2700 people.
Since the first days of the war, Dobrobut’s medical and diagnostic center in Kyiv, with the support of Direct Relief International and Dobrobut Foundation, has been providing free assistance to wounded soldiers and people in difficult situations due to the war.
“Dobrobut became the first private network in Ukraine to receive funding from the U.S. federal government – with the support of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), the company will build a modern physical rehabilitation center.
Enterprises of the group of companies “ATB” according to the results of work in the first half of 2023 paid taxes and fees, including customs payments and the unified social contribution (USV), for a total amount of 12.01 billion UAH, the press service of the company reported to the agency “Interfax-Ukraine”.
According to the press release, this is 22.7% more than in the same period last year, when UAH 9.79 billion of such contributions were made.
It is specified that UAH 8.09 billion was transferred to the state budget of the country in January-June this year (against UAH 6.65 billion in the first half of 2022), UAH 2.8 billion was paid to local budgets, and UAH 1.12 billion was paid to trust funds.
ATB Corporation is an association of large Ukrainian enterprises operating in such business spheres as retail trade, asset management, production and sale of food products, provision of services in the sphere of sports and recreation. More than 70 thousand people work at the enterprises of the corporation.
As of June 1, 2023, the corporation’s retail network has 1,188 stores compared to 1,316 stores in January-2022. According to the results of the last year in the conditions of a full-scale war against Ukraine unleashed by Russia, ATB Corporation paid UAH 20.4 billion of taxes and fees to budgets of different levels – almost UAH 1 billion more than in 2021.
Naftogaz group has paid more than UAH 30 billion of taxes to the state budget of Ukraine in the four months of 2023, which is 15% of all tax revenues to it during this time.
According to a report on the group’s website on Monday, Naftogaz Group paid a total of nearly 33 billion hryvnias to the state and local budgets as of May 1, 2023.
“Despite the war and the consequences it caused, Naftogaz Group remains one of the largest taxpayers in Ukraine and a reliable support for the treasury. Only in April we accumulated 6.2 billion UAH of taxes, which is almost 13% of all tax revenues of the state budget of the country”, – Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Alexei Chernyshov was quoted in the message.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukrhazvydobuvannia (UHV), 100% owned by Naftohaz Ukrainy, transferred UAH 6.32 billion of rent payments to the country’s consolidated budget based on its activities in January-March 2023.
