Ukrainian energy companies discuss winter preparations with U.S. Firms

During President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the U.S., representatives from PJSC Ukrnafta, the state-owned energy trader Energy Company of Ukraine (ECU), and Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) LLC met with U.S. companies to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2024/2025 heating season, according to Oleksandr Kamyshin, the president’s strategic adviser.
“We, along with the president, had a meeting with U.S. companies to prepare our energy sector for winter. Three Ukrainian companies attended: Ukrnafta, ECU, and GTSOU. Each of them is working on significant projects in energy generation,” Kamyshin wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the Ukrainian companies aimed to establish business-to-business relationships with the U.S. industry.
Kamyshin mentioned that there was a “productive dialogue” with U.S. energy corporations, financial institutions, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt, and Deputy Secretary of State Richard Verma.
Later, Pyatt tweeted that he had a very fruitful separate meeting with Kamyshin following the energy sector roundtable with Zelenskyy.
“The U.S. and international partners are committed to ensuring Ukraine’s energy security, especially this winter,” he wrote.
Earlier, Verma reported discussing private sector investment in Ukraine’s defense capabilities with Kamyshin.

IT company DeepL adds Ukrainian to its translation service

The German IT company DeepL, in response to the huge demand from users, has added the Ukrainian language to its translation service. According to a DeepL press release, Ukrainian has become the 29th language available in the translation service.
“Ukrainian has become the top user request this year, so the DeepL team of engineers and language experts has accelerated development and launch to make it happen as soon as possible,” the press release says.
DeepL translations use neural network technology that detects linguistic subtleties to make these translations look natural.
DeepL is a German artificial intelligence company with more than half a billion people worldwide using the company’s services. The quality of DeepL machine translation is based on proprietary enhancements to neural network mathematics and methodology. The company is headed by CEO and founder Jaroslaw Kutylowski.

Ukrainian took “gold” of European Championship in triple jump

Ukrainian athlete Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk won the gold medal at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in the triple jump, showing a result of 15.02 m, the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the national Olympic team reported.

UKRAINIAN WINS GOLD AT EUROPEAN BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP

Ukrainian Yuriy Zakhareev has won a gold medal at the European Boxing Championship among athletes under the age of 22, which takes place in Croatia.
“On March 23, the final bouts of the European U22 Boxing Championship took place in Croatia. Ukrainian Yuriy Zakhareev became the European champion in the weight category up to 71 kg. In the fight for the gold our boxer defeated an opponent from Wales, Garan Croft,” the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports said in a statement.
Earlier silver medals were won by Andriy Yefymovich (weight category up to 48 kg), Maksym Vlasiuk (weight category up to 60 kg) and Ivan Sapun (weight category up to 86 kg).
According to the results of the continental championship competitions, the Ukrainian boxing team won ten medals: two gold, three silver and five bronze.

93,000 PEOPLE AND 15,000 VEHICLES CROSS UKRAINIAN STATE BORDER IN WESTERN SECTION

The State Border Guard Service says that about 93,000 people and almost 15,000 vehicles crossed the state border of Ukraine in the western section during the day on March 2.
“During the day on March 2, about 93,000 people and almost 15,000 vehicles crossed the state border of Ukraine in the western section. These indicators remained at the level of the previous day,” the press service of the State Border Guard Service said in a statement.
In particular, almost 79,000 people went to leave Ukraine for the EU and Moldova, of which almost 50,000 people crossed the border to Poland, remaining 29,000 left for Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Moldova.
At the same time, over the past 24 hours, almost 14,000 of our compatriots crossed the border to enter Ukraine, most of them men, which is 2,000 more than on March 1.
“We remind you that all checkpoints on the western border operate around the clock. The workload of checkpoints every three hours is covered on the page of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service,” the message says.
It is noted that at present one of the main tasks for border guards and customs officers is the execution of humanitarian aid for the Ukrainian population and our army.

159 UKRAINIAN CITIZENS IN AFGHANISTAN WANT TO RETURN HOME

There are 159 Ukrainian citizens in Afghanistan who have stated their willingness to return home, work is underway on the next evacuation flights, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
“According to our information, there are now 159 Ukrainian citizens in Afghanistan who have stated their willingness to return home. We work through our embassies in Tajikistan, Pakistan and Iran, as well as through the embassies of certain friendly countries that also have ties to the Taliban here in Ukraine, in order to organize the next evacuation flights,” Kuleba said at an online briefing on Thursday.
