RETAIL TRADE TURNOVER IN UKRAINE 14.9% DOWN IN APRIL 2020

Ukraine’s retail trade turnover in April 2020 compared to the same month of 2019 in comparable prices decreased by 14.9%, while in March it grew by 6.1%, the State Statistics Service has reported. According to the service, in April, compared with March 2020, retail trade turnover decreased by 23%.
In January-April 2020 compared with January-April 2019, retail trade turnover increased by 3.2%.
The largest growth in the retail turnover of enterprises (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) for the four months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 was recorded in Kyiv (by 10.5%), Zaporizhia (by 9.8%), Dnipropetrovsk (by 8.6%), Odesa (6.7%), Volyn (6.3%), Kirovohrad (5.3%), Kharkiv and Donetsk (4.9%), Poltava (4.5%) regions.
The service recalls that the data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol, part of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

UKRAINE AND INDONESIA AGREE TO DEVELOP TRADE

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba has held a phone conversation with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi to discuss the development of mutual trade between the countries.
“Dmytro Kuleba said that Indonesia is an important partner of Ukraine in Southeast Asia and one of the region’s leaders. In this context, he pointed out the growth of bilateral trade, which exceeded $1 billion at the end of last year. The ministers agreed to join their efforts for the further development of trade between the countries,” the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said on Monday.
Kuleba said that Ukraine aspires to build closer political cooperation with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Ukrainian minister also thanked Indonesia for the decision to not impose sanctions on Ukrainian citizens who were unable to leave the country due to the suspension of flights, although their documents for stay in Indonesia have expired.
He also said that Ukraine is ready to welcome Indonesian president in Kyiv and invited the country’s foreign minister to visit Ukraine at any convenient time.

NAFTOGAZ PLANS TO CREATE IN UKRAINE EXCHANGE TO TRADE WITH GAS

NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy in 2020 plans to create an exchange to trade with gas, Head of Naftogaz integrated gas business unit Andriy Favorov has said.
“Our idea, our strategy, is that next year we will create an exchange where Naftogaz will act as a buyer and seller of gas,” he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, the decision has already been approved by the board and the supervisory board of the company. The required preparatory work is ongoing to launch the exchange. In particular, a tender was held to implement the ETRM (Energy Trade Risk Management) system, which will take into account all transactions and market fluctuations.
“The introduction of this system will give us the required tools to control commercial risks,” Favorov said.

UKRAINE AND BELARUS EXPAND TRADE

Within the framework of the 27th meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Belarusian Mixed Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, a meeting of co-chairs of the national parts of the Commission and a plenary meeting took place. “The visit of the Belarusian delegation of such level is a real opportunity to continue the dialogue with a view to practical implementation of the urgent tasks of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest for the peoples of our states,” the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers quoted Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel as saying on Saturday.
It is noted that the constructive discussions held at expert consultations within the Commission will deepen cooperation between Ukraine and Belarus.
“Cooperation with the Republic of Belarus will ensure the development and functioning of stable and competitive sectors of the economy of our states. Implementation of the agreements will provide an opportunity to strengthen political, trade, economic and cultural ties between our countries,” Orzhel added.
